UK’s 1st 2010 Commit - Stacey Poole Jr.
The BBL looks forward fondly to the arrival of Jacksonville Florida’s own Stacey Poole to the Cat’s squad in 2010. Poole is a 6’5 scorer deluxe with the athleticism to finish above the rim and also stroke it from beyond the arc.
Check out Stacey’s hops in this rebound dunk with authority.
His form and release is eerily reminiscent of his father’s who was an absolute UK DESTROYER in the early ‘90s (‘89-‘93) when he played with Florida, finishing as the school’s 3rd all-time leading scorer. Stacey Poole Sr. also went on to play in the NBA.
Stacey Jr. is currently rated anywhere from 58 to 65 on the Rival’s and Scout top 100 rankings. But make no mistake about it, this kid is the perfect recruit for the dribble drive offense. Calipari wanted this kid after witnessing him tear it up at the NBA Camp in Charlottesville, Va., in June.
Here is his current AAU Coach’s description of his game: “He’s a big 2-guard. He can be a combo. We use him at the point, too. He can beat guards, especially smaller guards. He can get to the rim anytime he wants to. He can knock down shots, and he shoots the three with consistency. And he has a good mid-range game.”
The BBL believes this is an unprecedented recruiting coup by UK to go into Florida and steal a legacy recruit right out from under Billy D. It appears Calipari and his assistant coaches can go anywhere at any time to land the services of a player they desire.
